FTC Capital sweeps the Alternative Investments Award: Triple top spots for managed futures from FTC
FTC, the leading Austrian asset manager for systematic and quantitative investment strategies dominated the "managed futures" category in this year's "Alternative Investments Award" (AIA) organized by Austria's GELD MAGAZIN. Already last month the FTC Futures Fund Dynamic made the short list of the best seven managed futures products at the "European Performance Award 2010" in London - professionals journal HFM Week's annual awards for the best European hedge funds.
Funds from FTC were ranked in the top 3 spots of their respective
categories eight times by the editorial staff of GELD MAGAZIN in the
AIA 2010. This ranking is based on the Sharpe-ratios (the risk / reward
ratio) in one, three and five year intervals as of December 31st, 2009.
The detailed results:
Category: Managed Futures, Single Advisor, Volatility <15 percent
3 Years: FTC Commodity Fund Alpha (Rank 3)
Category: Managed Futures, Single Advisor, Volatility >15 percent
1 Year: FTC Futures Fund Classic (Rank 1), FTC Futures Fund Dynamic (Rank 2)
3 Years: FTC Futures Fund Classic (Rank 1), FTC Futures Fund Dynamic (Rank 3)
5 Years: FTC Futures Fund Dynamic (Rank 1), FTC Futures Fund Classic (Rank 2)
Category: Hedgefunds, Multistrategy, Volatility 5 -10 percent
3 Years: FTC Gideon I (Rank 2)
At the AIA FTC had to compete with an increased variety of available
managed futures funds in Austria. The fund universe eligible at the
annual European Performance Awards by HFM Week in London is
significantly larger (all hedge funds with European managers) and were
presented at the Hurlingham Club in London on March 25th. Similar to
the Oscars these important international awards have a couple of
nominees in the various categories and a winner. FTC’s Futures Fund
Dynamic was nominated in the category managed futures together with six
other funds.
This year’s winner was not a trend following strategy but an absolute
return concept – the British managed futures program Value Trac
Strategic. Starting 2010 FTC has also expanded its array of products by
a non trend following futures fund – currently designed for
institutional clients.
